The value of intra-Community trade of fruits and vegetables until September 2011 recorded a decline of 4.2% over the same period in 2010.
The value of intra-Community trade of fruits and vegetables until September 2011 recorded a decline of 4.2% over the same period in 2010.
From January to September 2011 the intra-Community trade of fruits and vegetables totaled €19,044 million, with volumes totaling 26.3 million tons, 4.1% more.
The average price of fruit and vegetables in the first 3 quarters of 2011 amounted to € 0.72 / kg compared to 0.78 € / kg in the same period in 2010, reflecting a price decline of 8%.
Trade in vegetables has increased by 10% in volumes, totaling
14.683 million tons and a decline in value of 6% to €8905 million. The average price of vegetables was reduced by 14%, from € 0.70 / kg to 0.60 € / kg. For fruits, the average price is 0.87 € / kg with volumes down 2% to 11,641 million tons, and value by 3% to €10,139 million.
