Exports of avocados in increase

The exports of avocados continue to progress supported by an increasing foreign demand.
According to a recent study, the exports of Peruvian avocados should reach 57.500 tons this year which means a 19 % increase more than last year.
The harvest will be made from April till August with 48.000 tons of the variety Hass and 9.500 tones of the variety Fuerte.
The main zones of productions are situated in the regions of Lima, The Libertad, Junin, Arequipa, Ayacucho and Ica.
The avocado is now a product which arouses a lot of interest because of the demand on the overseas markets.
