Sales of organic fruits rose by 16.7%

The Swiss continue to buy more organic fruits according to the bulletin of the Federal Office for Agriculture (FOA).
In Switzerland about 38,400 tons of organic fruit were sold last year, up by 16.7% from the previous year.
The classification of these sales: No. 1 banana, with almost 18 700 tonnes or 1500 tonnes more than in 2014. Then, apple and lemon. Farther ranking orange, mandarin and pear. At the 7th place, the avocado which recorded its record sales growth (+ 80%).
Despite these findings that confirm the consumer craze for organic fruits, "conventional" fruits are largely the majority. The share of organic bananas are barely 1/3 of total sales of bananas, organic apples account for 7% and pears 2%.
