Working only with electricity from the Green network generated from solar energy and wind, a Crete-based company proudly calls itself one of the greenest fruit producers in Greece.
The high humidity level of the area where the facility is located allows fruit plants to absorb water with their leaves, eliminating the need for additional irrigation. In the packaging house, they don't use any water for cleaning the fruits.
“We don't use any wax or water, only a little irrigation in the field during summer. We save 1000 liters of water per day in the packing house, and we work only with electricity from the Green network generated from solar energy and wind. Our fruits are brushed with their own oil, so they shine naturally. All our fruits are ripened on the trees, and this gives the authentic taste, which one needs to try to understand the difference”, says the Public Relations Manager of the company.
Another distinctive benefit of Cretan oranges is that they have different sugar levels and low acidity, which make the taste completely different. In addition, they don't use any fuel to dry the fruits.
The company will start supplying oranges in a couple of weeks and will continue until August. Worth to highlight that usually there is no citrus in Europe during the summer.
The grower offers Navel, Lane Late and Valencia oranges, as well as Hayward kiwifruit. Soon they will start with Zutano and Fuerte avocados, and with Hass and Lamb Hass in mid January.
“We also offer mixed pallets with oranges, avocados, mandarins, lemons, grapefruits, pomegranate juice and extra virgin olive oil”, comments the Manager.
To make consumers come closer to nature the company has developed a project where they pack fruits in boxes of mixed caliber. The same as fruits growing on trees. “The trees give us all the calibers and we try to deliver that in the same way as the trees do”, says the manager.
Being certified with GLOBALG.A.P, GRASP and Bio, the company guarantees fruit quality and safety for customers. Moreover, they don't use fertilizers in grapefruit and avocado production, making the fruits vegan friendly.
Seeking out to enhance product quality, they cut their fruits just 1 day before shipping and do not store them in the fridge.
There are still some trial shipments possible for the 2021/2022 season, so if you are interested to try and experience the difference send your inquiry today. For future seasons the company will increase volume, so they are also open to make a meeting at Fruit Logistica in Berlin or an online meeting.
