Onion production exceeds 1 million tons

In Spain onion production will exceed 1 million tons.

In 2013, the Spanish onion production is 1.2 million tons. On this national total, about 65% come from the region of Castilla-La Mancha, according Procecam (Association of onion producers Castilla-La Mancha).

Regarding the exports, the total amounted to 202,922 tons in September 2013, an increase of 9% compared to the same period in 2012. The main destinations for Spanish onions are the United Kingdom (70 111 tons) and then Germany (56 492 tons) and France (21 408 tons).
