Exports predicted downwards
FJ
Forecasts of exports of clementines are modified.
The ASPAM (Citrus Growers Association in Morocco) estimates exports at 250,000 tons of clementines for the 2013-14 campaign, instead of 300,000 tons predicted at the beginning of the season.
The cause, weather conditions, lack of rain prevented the fruit from growing. With the consequences that small sizes which represent 35% of the crop is difficult to export. Then harvest began early, with a deficiency in taste, juiciness, color or fruit.
Crops varieties which follow Clementine are predicted with a little delay. This period, which coincides with the increased demand on foreign markets, and perhaps a rise in prices could save the season.
