Blue Whale producers obtain a new certification guaranteeing their growing commitment to ecological transition and responsible agriculture.
BLUE WHALE producers practice agriculture that respects the environment and biodiversity, their orchards are already recognized as "eco-responsible" and now 95% of areas have the HVE3-High Environmental Value label level 3.
With its process started in July 2019, BLUE WHALE is now the 1st company to have the largest number of HVE3 certified producers, with in particular the largest collective certification in arboriculture. With 207 certified producers, 6,400 hectares of orchards, or 95% of the areas are HVE labeled
Apple 5,651 ha
.Pear 240 ha
.Kiwi 368 ha
Plum 103 ha
.Grape 47 ha.
The vast majority of these producers are certified according to option A, which is based on the following 4 environmental pillars: protection of biodiversity, phytosanitary strategy, fertilization management and water resource management.
The environmental certification of farms responds to the need to recognize farms engaged in particularly environmentally friendly approaches. In the years to come, more and more agri-environmental indicators will have to be monitored in order to continuously improve the practices of fruit growers. Because the HVE standard will continue to evolve.
"We warmly thank all of our producers and employees, who put all their energy into obtaining this exceptional level of certification. This label is a pledge of confidence for consumers, who have high expectations of healthy fruit produced with respect for the environment, "said Séverine Maldès, quality manager at Blue Whale.
A group of fruit growers formed in 1950, BLUE WHALE now has nearly 300 fruit growers located in several French regions: South-West, Loire Valley, South-East and Alps.
