Warming temperatures will cause an increase in the growing area for bananas that will become the essential food of millions of people
The potato is threatened by the banana because of rising temperatures.
Global warming will force farmers to change their crops and studies by the United Nations and the CCAFS (Climate Change, Agriculture and Food Security) predict that the banana could replace potatoes in many countries.
The potato
, which grows best in colder climates, will see areas decrease with increasing temperature. Banana surfaces will win and become the essential food for millions of people.
These changes will also affect areas of corn and wheat to the benefit of cassava and cowpea (varieties of beans).
