Apo Conerpo wants to strengthen relations between agriculture and beekeeping
Bees play a vital role in agriculture and must be safeguarded.
Farmers and beekeepers are called upon to strengthen their relations to protect bees and pollinating insects. In support of this synergy, the "Handbook on good agricultural practices for the protection of bees" ("Vademecum sulle buone pratiche agricole per la tutela delle api") was presented during a technical meeting that was held at Apo Conerpo, the leader in fresh produce.
The manual warns against the use of certain products, toxic or harmful to bees, and gives advice to farmers. In Italy, the protection of pollinating insects is regulated at the national level by a 2004 law. This law gives the regions the power to set limits on the use of plant protection products. In Emilia-Romagna, one of the most important agricultural regions of the country, legislative measures dated 1991 and 1988 preserve bees, and prohibit treatments during flowering.
