California increases its surfaces of nuts

The latest survey "California Walnut Nursery Sales Report" estimates additional walnut plantations sold by nurseries in California.
Sales of walnuts for new plantations are equivalent to 15,720 additional acres (6,361 hectares) for the 2013 agricultural season. Sales Report of 2012 estimated the additional space of 11,310 acres (4,776 hectares). So there is an increase of +35% from one year to another.
The most requested variety was the Chandler variety which represents 70.1% of new plantations, followed by Tulare variety with 9% and the Howard variety with 5.8%. Other varieties share the remaining percentage.
