Emirates, the Dubai-based airline, helped import more than 34,000 tonnes of food into the country between January and April. The company has set a new world record for freight volume.
Emirates used the cargo capacity of its Boeing 777 cargo and Boeing 777-300ER to maintain food supplies during the Covid-19 pandemic. The air carrier imported more than 34,000 tonnes of food into the country between January and April, from 35 countries.
Emirates SkyCargo, the cargo division of Emirates, recently set a new world record for the maximum number of cargoes loaded in the lower deck of a Boeing 777-300ER. Breaking its own record established a few days earlier on the flight from Karachi (Pakistan) to Dubai with 63 tonnes. On April 23, 2020, Emirates SkyCargo operated a Boeing 777-300ER departing from Mumbai (India), loaded with just over 66 tonnes of cargo at the lower deck of the aircraft. The cargo carried included perishable goods.
