Big C adds 42 stores to its network

The company Big C Supercenter Plc, whose majority shareholder is the French group Casino has acquired the Thai activities of Carrefour.
Big C added 42 stores to its network, which enables it to compete with the country leader.
By changing the 42 Carrefour stores under the brand Big C , it will allow BIG C to have 103 hypermarkets in Thailand and thus coming closer to Tesco Lotus, which holds 116 hypermarkets.
Big C thus challenges the domination for 10 years of Tesco Lotus on the market. But observers think that after a period of intense rivalry, the two chains should share the market.
