A high demand for Australian-grown citrus
Growers and packers all around the Australia are working hard right now, so consumers can look forward to juicy oranges and mandarins this season, in addition to local grapefruits, lemons and limes.
Citrus Australia Ltd, the recognized peak industry body representing the nation’s commercial citrus growers, conducted research on this season’s flavor profiles has revealed that last year's drought allowed this season to harvest sweeter and juicier fruits. What accordingly consumers prefer and what will lead to increased demand.
Now, stores across the country have fresh, Australian-grown, oranges and tangerines, as well as lemons, grapefruits and limes.
Everyone knows that all citrus varieties are packed with Vitamin C. One lemon, orange or tangerine contains all the recommended daily allowance of vitamin C, as well as fiber and antioxidants necessary for a healthy body.
Citrus Australia CEO Nathan Hancock said, “Our growers and packers picking fruit and getting it to a store near you. It’s satisfying for them to see great demand and appreciation for Australian grown citrus.”
Retailers reported about significant sales of all citrus varieties this year due to their taste and nutritional value of fruits.
