Record sales for Zespri kiwis in Asian markets

Very important volumes of kiwifruit sold to Asian markets for the New Zealand ZESPRI leader .

ZESPRI announced strong sales especially in Asia . Sales totaled 21 million trays in Japan, records for this market. In China sales totaled 18 million trays sold , another record , up by 6.6 million trays sold compared to 11.4 million the previous season.

Total sales of kiwi ( Green ) increased by 16% reaching 80 million trays. The Gold variety sales have reached 33 million trays, which tripled the sales of the variety Sungold at 27.5 million trays.

These performances highlight the recovery of the sector , 85% of kiwi orchards were affected by the dreaded virus Psa (Pseudomonas syringae pv actinidiae ) from 2010.
