X5 Retail Group bought the chain Kopeyka

X5 Retail Group buys the discount chain Kopeyka and consolidates its leading position in food distribution.
With this, they made the largest acquisition ever made in Russia.

X5 Retail Group, the largest food distributor in Russia in terms of sales, announced the acquisition of the chain Kopeyka for 51.5 billion rubles or 1.65 billion U.S. dollar.

Kopeyka operates 660 stores with a total sales area of 290,000 m2 and annual revenues of nearly 60 billion rubles.

X5 group wants to increase store sales of  Kopeyka by improving the product range. Kopeyka stores should change of name for Pyaterochka within 2 years.
