VU
Pomegranate exports from the Ica department, which is Peru’s main producing region of this fruit, totaled 36.969 tons in the 2022 season. This is an increase of 37.6% compared to the 26.869 tons shipped in the previous season, according to the National Agricultural Health Service (Senasa).
These supplies were directed to 31 countries, with the Netherlands, Canada, the United Kingdom, the United States, Dubai and England being the main destinations. It should be noted that exports to Jordan began this season.
The most popular varieties remain Wonderful and Acco.
According to Senasa, the increase is due to good phytosanitary management of the crop.
