Deere posts strong Q1 results

US agricultural machinery manufacturer Deere has more than doubled its first quarter profits and revised its 2004 earnings forecast upwards. First-quarter profits totaled $170.8 million, a 151 percent rise on the previous year. Q1 sales stood at US$3.48 billion a 25 percent increase, which the company attributed improved market conditions.
