Kroger announced new region for high-tech Customer Fulfillment Center
The Kroger Co., one of the largest grocery retailers in United States, and Ocado Group, one of the world leaders in technology for grocery e-commerce from UK, announced the continued expansion of their partnership. The plan is to construct an additional Customer Service Center (CFC) in the South Region, while also collaborating with Ocado on in-store fulfilment (ISF) capabilities with a planned rollout in Kroger stores starting in 2021.
The exact location and construction dates of the new facility will be announced shortly, but it is certain that the new facility will have an area of 200,000 square feet.
U.S. grocery retailer continues to accelerate the expansion of its national network, and has partnered with technology company to help accelerate its ability to provide customers with anything, anywhere, anytime through its unified ecosystem. The CFC model that incorporates state-of-the-art automation and artificial intelligence will be used to expand Kroger products to a larger area.
Luke Jensen, CEO of Ocado Solutions, shared that in the long term, they know that winning online at grocery means having excellent customer service backed by professional operational economics. He said Kroger gains access to the best customer experience in the online grocery area by using the wide range of Osado fulfillment technologies.
In addition, Kroger investing and innovating to optimize the technology and fulfillment processes in-store. The company is also partnering with Ocado to leverage its in-store fulfillment (ISF) capabilities with the best technology and digital solutions of grocery retailer. This is to support the rapid growth in demand for pickup at Kroger stores across the country. Technology company’s in-store fulfillment solution includes proprietary software that supports associates' work and makes it easier and more efficient to find products when fulfilling customer pick-up orders.
According to Yael Cosset, Kroger's chief technology and digital officer, Ocado's capabilities to fulfill in-store orders by using artificial intelligence will further drive continuous improvement in customer pickup experience.
