The port is investing to redevelop and modernize its facilities in order to increase commercial traffic and seize opportunities for development: emerging Mediterranean markets, increased demand of products against-season, price competitiveness relative to major European ports.
Investments include a high-tech crane capable of accelerating the pace and therefore rotations of cargo loaded mainly with fruits and vegetables from Africa. And the modernization of a dock that will strengthen the port as a stopover which counts in the Mediterranean, for the fruiterer, with more than 300 000 tons of freight on average in recent years.
