High production of tomatoes

In Wielkopolska, in western Poland, the region of Kalisz (one of the main town in the region) is well known for the high level of production under glass. The volume of under glass production is so high that it takes a good position not only in Poland but in the whole Europe. According to last year estimation, the whole area under glass occupied 330 hectares, it is enlarged about 10 hectares each year and could rise to 25-30 hectares in 2007. The average height of walls of the new modern glass-house is 4/4,5 meters - all units are fully computerized. The main crops are tomatoes.
