The second winter season of the year in Colombia affected the banana production territories. In a special way, the municipalities of Orihueca, Seville, Tucurinca, El Reposo and Santa Rosalía in Magdalena suffered damage.
The executive president of the Association of Banana Growers of Magdalena and La Guajira (Asbama), José Francisco Zúñiga Cotes, commented that the situation in the Banana Zone is heavy. During the last few days, due to flooding, rising waters and overflowing rivers in the El Reposo sector, the farms of many small producers were damaged. Next, the president appealed to the solidarity of the Asbama affiliates to help the community.
In turn, the IDEAM forecasts a strong increase in rains, which will continue until November.
