Delegations were able to share their experiences and identify the priority actions (capacities, infrastructures, equipment) to take advantage of the planned developments in the markets.
Togo's exports of fruit and vegetables to the EU have more than doubled over the last 10 years and exports from WAEMU countries (Benin, Burkina Faso, Côte d'Ivoire, Guinea Bissau, Mali, Niger, Senegal and Togo) increased by nearly 30% over the same period thanks to a diversification of production and markets.
The event "National and regional information and exchange workshops" was organized in Lomé by the Ministry of Agriculture of Togo, the General Secretariat of the ACP Group of States and COLEACP. The objective was to identify the key factors for the development of successful fruit and vegetable sectors.
Countries in the region have increased their investments in the agricultural sector and improved communication and transport networks. In order to benefit from the planned developments on the international markets, producers and exporters must better meet the requirements of standards compliance, reliability, quantity and quality of products.
