FJ
The EU General Court annulled a decision of the European Commission.
The authorization granted in March 2010 by the European Commission for the placing on the market of genetically modified potato Amflora is annuled by the Court of the EU. Viloation of rules of procedures, explained the Court.
Disavowal therefore for the European Commission, whose decision to authorize this GMO without consulting the States, provoked a wave of protest. An action for annulment was filed by Hungary, supported by France, Luxembourg, Austria and Poland. The Court supported their argument.
Amflora Potato proved to be a commercial failure and was abandoned by its promoter chemical group BASF.
