New markets for pineapple exports

The Panamanian government announced that pineapple exports found new markets in the last Fruit Logistica.

 
Pineapples from Panama will be shipped to Russia, Turkey, and possibly Japan and other Asian countries.

 
After the signatures at the exhibition, buyers will go to Panama to visit plantations and to sign contracts.

 
Pineapple exports have generated an income of U.S. $ 30 million last year. The Director of Export Promotion of the Ministry of Commerce said that, with the increase in expected production, exports should grow in 2012 and should represent an income of 56 million U.S. dollars.
