Chiquita to close processing plants

Chiquita has announced that it will shut two processing facilities in Illinois and Kanasas City as part of the integration of Fresh Express. Following the acquisition of Fresh Express, Chiquita had three processing plants in the Mid West region of the USA. Around 100 job losses are expected from the closures which Chiquita says will save the company around US$3 million a year.
