Spectacular growth in Cambodia for banana exports, the volume of which recorded an unprecedented rate of + 225% compared to last year
Cambodia exported more than 235,171 tonnes of fresh bananas in the first 9 months of 2020. That is a 225.69% increase year on year, said Veng Sakhon, Minister of Agriculture, Agriculture, Forests and Fishing.
According to the ministry's services, banana shipments have increased significantly since China authorized the export of Cambodian bananas to its market in May 2019. The volume of banana exports is expected to continue to increase, companies in Cambodia are expanding their cultivation areas and orders from China are pouring in.
Cambodia exported 157,812 tonnes of bananas last year. Most were exported to China and the rest to Vietnam and Japan.
