Apricots: 2014 harvests above the average
FJ
Agreste, the Agricultural Statistics Service of the Ministry of Agriculture, announces the apricot harvest significantly higher than last year.
According to the latest estimates, apricot production in 2014 will reach 178 000 tons, or +33% compared to the poor harvest in 2013, and +8% on compared to the average 2009 to 2013.
Good weather conditions have contributed to this progress and helped to start the season in advance about 15 days. The prices, under the pressure of large flows of early varieties from all producing areas, were poorly supported in June. Since early July, with the demand that increases, prices seem to address a more positive trend.
