70% of Chilean arándanos exports to China consist of varied new products

The period leading up to Chinese New Year always represents higher fruit sales in China. With the Spring Festival on January 21, the demand for different fruits has skyrocketed since the beginning of the month, and Chilean blueberries show good performance in the Chinese market.
To further promote the berry in China, representatives of the Chilean Blueberry Committee (ASOEX) visited the Huizhan Fruit Market in Shanghai, the Xinfadi Fruit Wholesale Market near Beijing and the Jiangnonghui Fruit Wholesale Market in Guangzhou.
In addition, workshops and exhibitions were held in order to analyze the blueberry export season and share information on demand and market trends.
During the exhibition, ASOEX's marketing director for Europe and Asia, Charif Christian Carvajal, stressed that this season is marked by high competitiveness of Chilean blueberries, since 70% of their shipments consist of new varieties.
The Committee projects that Chile will export 98,228 tons of fresh blueberries in the 2022/23 season.
It should be noted that the 2021/22 season closed for Chilean exporters with 91,337 tons of fresh blueberries shipped, of which 11,393 tons were destined for Asia. Figure that remained almost the same the previous season. China consolidated itself as the largest Asian importer of this Chilean fruit, receiving more than 6,000 tons in the 2021/22 season, representing 59% of shipments to the Asian continent.
