Wednesday 02 January 2008
The European Union has granted 300 million euros to Turkish farmers. The news was released by the Agricultural and Rural Development commission of the Union, explaining that the fund is destined to the improvement of the industry’s condition.
Turkey is currently working at a plan to create agencies to receive the fund, presumably at end 2008; these will later be able to distribute the money to the farmers.
Kai Bauer, head of the European Union’s Agricultural Development sector, highlighted that between 2002 and 2006 Turkey had already received 166 million euros for development programmes.
