Excellent record for agricultural exports from the Netherlands, reaching a record of EUR 94 billion for 2016 (EUR 90 billion for the previous year).
The Ministry of Agriculture says that out of the 94 billion euros figure for exports, 85 billion euros come from agricultural products and 9 billion euros from equipment and technologies.
The country has invested heavily in innovation and research to install an agriculture with an ever better yield (greenhouses, water use, drones, specialized machines) and this knowledge can be exported today, commented the spokesman for the ministry.
Agricultural products accounted for 19.9% of the country's total exports. On the turnover of 85 billion euros, about 1/4 are re-exports (imported from another country and processed in the Netherlands before being exported). Germany, Belgium, France and Great Britain receive 1/4 of these exports.
