AREA OF GREENHOUSE IN THE REGION OF MERSIN IS DEVASTATED BY A STRONG WIND

Erdemli is well known for its production of strawberries, citrus orchards but also for its vegetable greenhouses. The windstorm of May 21 caused extensive damage, especially in the greenhouses where vegetables were already prepared to be harvested.

It has also affected the experimental greenhouses of peppers from Agricultural Research Center of Alata, by destroying it completely.

The damages are not yet quantified but henceforth farmers say they are very important. In January, a water tornado had already destroyed part of the harvest.
