Increased production and exports of mangoes in 2016 for Peru.
With a production boost in 2016, Peru increased its exports, making it the world's No. 2 mango exporters.
According to COMEXPERU, the organization of foreign trade, Peru recorded a production of 372,900 tons of mangoes in 2016. This is an increase of 7.8% compared to the previous year. In addition, exports totaled 157,000 tons worth USD 198.4 million, making it the second largest exporter in the world, behind Mexico.
These mangoes from Peru were shipped mainly to the Netherlands (38% of the total), the United States (28%) and the United Kingdom (9%). In 2016 a new market opened up, South Korea, other Asian markets could become accessible in the near future.
