WUWM awards its prize Mercazaragoza

The World Union of Wholesale Markets (WUWM) has awarded its prizes at its 28th Congress in Santiago, Chile.
This year, the competition among all wholesale markets in the world had as a theme "the excellence of logistics." The Gold Medal of Market Award 2013 was awarded to the Spanish wholesale market, Mercazaragoza.
Mercazaragoza won the highest award for developing a successful intermodal logistics platform. Since 2003, Mercazaragoza strengthened its position in the region but also the export via TMZ (Terminal Maritima de Zaragoza), intermodal transport infrastructure related to different ports of the country (Barcelona, Bilbao) and other centers (Madrid, Burgos, Azuqueca).
TMZ began with a partnership with the Port of Barcelona, which sought to expand its zone of action. In 2012 it handled 200,000 TEU and seeks new partnerships to reach new markets. The wholesale market Mercazaragoza processes 124,000 tons of fruits and vegetables, it covers 750,000 m2 and has more than 140 companies.
