The increase highlights a shift towards higher-value crops, with blueberries gaining ground in Piura’s export mix.

Blueberry cultivation continues to expand in Peru’s northern region of Piura, with new plantings and rising output reinforcing the crop’s role in the local export mix.

According to the Regional Directorate of Agriculture, the region now has 881 hectares planted, of which 853 hectares are already in production and 28 hectares are still developing. Total output is estimated at 10,213 tonnes, with farmgate prices averaging S/ 5.81 per kg ($1.55/kg).

Exports are also gaining ground. In 2025, shipments from the region reached 2,343 tonnes, highlighting the increasing weight of blueberries within Piura’s agro-export portfolio.
