Turkey is the fourth largest producer of tomatoes

Representing about 7 percent of total world production, it consolidates its position of the fourth largest producer of tomatoes, after China, India, the United States, which produce respectively 30, 11 and 8 per cent of world production.
The tomato cultivation began in the south of Turkey, in 1900 in Adana.
Today, about 44 percent of tomatoes are grow in greenhouses mainly in the Antalya region.
The main importing countries are Russia, Romania, Saudi Arabia, Greece and Germany.
