Pineapple production sharply in increase

Mexico is in the top 10 of pineapple producers in the world.
Mexico recorded a remarkable growth rate of 24.7% in terms of its pineapple production.
SAGARPA, the Secretariat of Agriculture, announces that Mexico is in the TOP 10 of the major pineapple producers in the world. Within a few years, Mexican pineapple production has increased remarkably from 702,000 tonnes in 2010 to 875,742 tonnes in 2016.
The main producer states are Veracruz (64.9% of the national volume), Oaxaca (12.8%), Tabasco (6.2%), Quintana Roo (4.6%) and Jalisco (2.8%). The main destinations are the United States, South Korea and Spain.
