Agricultural experts view this variety as a potential contributor to national food security and export capacity.

A gardener from the Jaihun district in Tajikistan has developed a new pomegranate variety, called “Karimi,” which agricultural specialists are recommending be recognized as a national heritage.

This variety is distinguished by its large, bright fruit, sweet and juicy interior, and high yields — reaching around 20–25 tons per hectare. The developer has also successfully produced over 15,000 cuttings of Karimi to distribute among growers.

Researchers suggest that “Karimi” be entered into the State Register of Cultivars, in order to support its wide adoption and use in breeding programs.

Agricultural experts view this variety not only as a local achievement, but as a potential contributor to national food security and export capacity.
