Billa operates 72 supermarkets in the Moscow region wants to take over the Citystore chain.
Billa, part of German giant Rewe Group, aims to take control of the Russian supermarket chain Citystore.
Based in Moscow, Citystore is owned by the Turkish company Enka and consists of 17 supermarkets located in the Moscow region.
The transaction will total $
70 to 100 million. The Russian competition authorities have confirmed that Billa has requested authorization to buy Citystore.
Billa has been present in the Russian market since 2004 and operates 72 supermarkets which are located mainly in the Russian capital.
