Peru sees solid growth in orange exports despite late-season slowdown

Rising volumes, supported by slightly firmer prices, shaped a notably stronger year for Peru’s orange exports.
Peru’s fresh orange exports picked up pace in January–November 2025, with shipments reaching US$17.8 million, a 34% increase from the same period last year. Volumes also moved higher, rising 26% to 30,783 tonnes, as export activity strengthened through the middle of the year, according to a recent report by Agrodata Peru.
Prices edged up alongside volumes. The average export price improved to US$0.58 per kilo, compared with US$0.55/kg in 2024, helping lift overall returns.
Exports gathered momentum from May, with the season’s strongest flow seen in July and August, when monthly volumes topped 7,400 tonnes and 7,800 tonnes respectively. By November, shipments eased to 1,695 tonnes, generating US$0.89 million, below last year’s late-season levels.
In market terms, the Netherlands led demand, taking 29% of export value (US$5.18 million). The Dominican Republic followed with 22% (US$3.96 million), while the United Kingdom accounted for 17% (US$2.99 million). The United States absorbed a further 13% (US$2.24 million).
Smaller volumes were shipped to a wide mix of destinations, including Panama, Italy, Aruba, Guatemala, Colombia and the French Caribbean, underlining a broadly diversified export base.
