In Spain the chestnut harvest is expected an increase of approximately 15 % compared to last season.
Estatal del Castaño , the national organization , plans to produce 42,000 tons this season , more by 15 % compared to 37 000 tonnes harvested in 2014.
The expected volume could vary slightly because of the consequences of drought in some areas. The cultivation occupies about 110,000 hectares in several regions. The harvest began in September in Andalusia, all zones are now in production and harvest will continue until the end of November
