Forecast for the new crop of citrus season

On the threshold of the new campaign citrus harvest, producers have announced their estimates.

AVA-ASAJA, the Farmers' Association of the Valencia region, provides an overall decrease of 2% compared to the previous season. For mandarins, the decline will be sharper with -11.5%, particularly for early and midseason varieties; On the contrary, oranges might increase by 5%.

The Association points out that these crop forecasts are expected to negotiate acceptable price for producers. The international situation, including the effects of the Russian embargo, is likely to lead to downward pressure on prices.
