A technical visit by US agricultural authorities focused on sanitary cooperation between the two countries.
Peru's National Agrarian Health Service (SENASA) has reported further cooperation with the United States aimed at supporting Peruvian agricultural exports, according to the agency's announcement.
The development involves a technical visit by representatives of the US Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service (APHIS), the federal agency responsible for protecting agricultural health and overseeing phytosanitary import requirements.
Sanitary cooperation between SENASA and APHIS is important for Peruvian fruit and vegetable exporters, whose shipments must comply with the plant health requirements established by the US market.
The two agencies are responsible for coordinating phytosanitary matters affecting bilateral agricultural trade, including the certification and inspection procedures required for eligible products.
The latest engagement forms part of the countries' cooperation on agricultural health and export market access.
