Philippine Carabao mangoes extend Canadian reach to Vancouver

A 1-tonne consignment follows the opening of a Toronto route earlier this year, giving exporters another entry point into the Canadian market.
The Philippines has sent one tonne of fresh Carabao mangoes to Vancouver as it expands commercial shipments to Canada, the Department of Agriculture reported.
The load comprised 250 cartons and departed from the NAIA complex in Manila.
Canada route grows
The Vancouver delivery follows a separate commercial shipment of fresh Carabao mangoes to Toronto on 3 June.
The two routes give Philippine mango suppliers access to buyers on both sides of the Canadian market rather than concentrating shipments in a single city.
Supply base under development
At home, more than 40 mango growers’ groups have been brought into one federation to improve coordination, consolidate supply and support market access. The Bureau of Plant Industry is also working on disease management and plant-health requirements linked to exports.
Whether the Canadian trade develops into regular volumes will depend on repeat orders, competitive freight, consistent quality and reliable supply.
