Peru-Hong Kong trade agreement opens new scope for value-added exports

ADEX expects Peru’s new free trade agreement with Hong Kong, which entered into force on 1 September 2026, to help broaden the country’s value-added exports to the market.

Peruvian exporters requesting certificates of origin for Hong Kong must now process them under the new agreement through the VUCE origin component. A Declaration of Origin and supporting documents proving the origin of the goods are required.

Fresh produce is already important in the trade relationship. CIEN-ADEX data show that Peru exported US$237.5 million worth of goods to Hong Kong in 2025, with non-traditional products accounting for 59.7%. Fresh blueberries generated US$50.4 million, grapes US$34.1 million and avocados US$10 million.

The agreement gives Peruvian suppliers a new framework for developing those existing flows while looking for opportunities for a more diversified export basket.
