Warning of Turkey to Israel concerning the designation "Figs Bursa"

In recent weeks, it appears that some Israeli exporters mark on the packaging of black figs produced in Israel which depart to European countries "Bursa figs."

The Union of Exporters of Fruits and Vegetables Uludag has sent a letter of protest to the Israeli Embassy in Turkey, invoking a method of unfair competition and requesting to take necessary steps to stop these exports, under threat of having appeal to international judicial channels.

She insists that the conditions of production of the black fig in Turkey are closely related to moisture and heat and the characteristics of the land of Bursa and its geographical designation should protect against this type of competition.
