The Belgians increased their fruit and vegetables consumption

In 2010, the Belgians have bought more fruit and vegetables than the previous year, according to the study by the VLAM, the Flemish Centre for the promotion of agricultural products.
The Belgians have increased consumption of 1.5% for vegetables and 2.3% for fruits (by volume per capita), despite a price increase of 8.6% for vegetables and 1.5% for fruits. During 2010, the Belgian has bought around 62 kg of fresh vegetables (value 136 €) and 79 kg of fruit (value 165 €).
The best selling vegetables are tomatoes, carrots and onions. Among fruits, apples are still leading the standings, followed by oranges and bananas.
