Vietnam. The European Union is one of the world's largest importers of Fruits & Vegetables and Vietnam's products represent only 0.9% of European purchases. Vietnam wants to boost its exports to the European market.
According to the European Commission, imports of fruit and vegetables in 2017 into the EU totaled 130 billion USD. Interstate imports dominate and imports from non-EU countries amounted to USD 40 billion, up 2.8% from 2016. Vietnam's products account for only 0.9% of European purchases.
The country wants to expand its exports to this market. Measures will be implemented to meet European requirements (production standards, hygiene, food safety), contained in the HACCP or GlobalGAP standards, and thus allow Vietnamese products access to this promising market.
