Peru’s blueberry exports nearly double in 2025

Between May and September 2025, Peru’s blueberry exports surpassed 135,000 tons, marking a 92.9% year-on-year increase, according to SENASA. At the current pace, total exports could exceed 400,000 tons by the end of the 2025-2026 campaign.

Peruvian blueberries have reached 38 markets worldwide, with 83% of shipments going to the United States, the Netherlands, and China — the latter emerging as a key destination for large, premium-quality fruit. Bolivia and Indonesia became new buyers this season, while Vietnam, New Zealand, and Japan remain under negotiation for market access.

SENASA Chief Vilma Gutarra said the agency will continue strengthening phytosanitary protocols to open new markets and uphold the blueberry’s reputation as one of Peru’s flagship exports.

So far, 83 packing plants and 22,000 hectares of crops have been certified, mainly in La Libertad (45%), Lambayeque (27%), and Ica (15%). Peru cultivates around 65 varieties, with 80% of production concentrated in nine, including Ventura, Biloxi, Rocío, and Sekoya Beauty.
