Force Sud announces 26,000 tons of Charentais melons this season
The group has announced a new location in the Vendée region to extend the season, which was originally scheduled to last four months in France.
Force Sud is now an organization comprising six families of growers based in seven growing regions: Hérault, Vaucluse, Vendée, and Charente in France, as well as Murcia in Spain, and Marrakech and Dakhla. “Our melon supply is estimated at 26,000 tons for the 2026 season, including 3,500 tons of organic melons,” says CEO Jérome Jausseran. Force Sud ranks among the top four Charentais melon brands on the French market, with an estimated market share of 10% for conventional melons and 15% for organic melons. 5% of its supply is exported to neighboring countries such as Belgium, Switzerland, Germany, and Luxembourg.
Premium Offering: Label Rouge and Cavaillon Melon
Force Sud is also positioned in the “premium” segment with a “Label Rouge”-certified melon. It guarantees a minimum sugar content of 13º Brix and is available from May 10 to September 10. Force Sud also produces approximately 3,000 tons of mini-watermelons grown in Hérault, 2,000 tons of sweet potatoes from Vaucluse, 2 million heads of lettuce in winter (November to April), 600 tons of strawberries, and 100 tons of butternut squash.
