The organic food market in Japan has a significant growth potential.

A report by the USDA (U.S. Department of Agricultre) estimates that the Japanese organic food market is still at fledgling stages and has potential for enormous growth. This market was estimated at about U.S. $ 1.4 billion in 2010, according to the Japanese Ministry of Agriculture 0.24% of the products were grown locally, in Japan.

Since the disaster of 2011 (tsunami and incidents in Fukushima), worry about food safety grew up, the demand for organic and natural food products has exploded. Consumers are willing to pay an extra 20 to 30% and the market for natural food is now estimated to U.S. $ 6 billion.
